Babar and the Adventures of Badou is a revival and continuation of the Babar television series. It is a 3d series that began in 2010 and wrapped with the final season airing in 2015. The first season had 52 episodes, with 2 episodes per half hour slot. The show itself was a sequeal to the Babar series where Babar has become a grandfather to Pom's 8 year old son Badou, who we see is very smart like his father and has such good friends. Unlike the last incarnation, Celesteville now has a variety of animals from foxes, zebras and porcupines. There are several characters who return for this series, but there are many characters that do not return. The houses and palace look much smaller and have different detail inside the rooms. The series itself follows Badou's many adventures in and around the kingdom of Celesteville. At the beginning of the series Badou was seen going on many adventures, in the final season however he is shown wearing a crown just like his grandfather which symbolizes his father's almost crowned King of Celesteville.
Trivia[]
- Flora, Alexander, Isabelle, Victor, Arthur, Pompadour, Troubadour, Basil, and Madame are all absent because they've all moved away except for Pom as he is the oldest child and heir to the throne. Madame especially doesn't appear because she's either moved away or possibly died due to the fact that she was very elderly and old that she wouldn't have been able to live longer and she met Babar ever since he was a kid. Yet surprisingly, Cornelius is present. Even Rataxes is present in the series, however, here he is less of a villain and much more of a supporting character. In this rendition, the Crocodile Ambassador is portrayed as the show's villain from the very first episode, where he wants to have the throne to Celesteville.
- The series itself received mixed reviews among critics and fans alike, while some enjoyed the storylines in the show, others disliked the animation style and the fact that most of the characters from the ‘89 series did not return.
- Unlike the 1989 Babar show, this series had two eleven minute segments per episode.
- This was Chris Wiggins last role before he passed away it was also the last time he reprised a role.
