Summary[]
When Pompadour and Cornelius get into a fight, they have to put aside their differences so they can get everything on track.
Synopsis[]
With Babar and Celeste going on a holiday for the day, Pompadour and Cornelius are left in charge. The children are asked to be on their best behavior while their parents are gone. Before Babar and Celeste leave, Truffles asks for a new stove, since the food is getting burned. Cornelius says that he and Pompadour will look into it. Afterwards Babar and Celeste leave for the seaside. While things start out smoothly, Pompadour and Cornelius start to have disagreements, but stop when they see the children come into the room.
Meanwhile, at the beach, Babar is concerned about Cornelius and Pompadour since they usually get along when he is there to be a buffer, but when they are on their own, things don't really go well. Celeste assures him that they will be fine.
Back at the palace, the triplets start getting along, while tension between Cornelius and Pompadour start to rise. Even Truffles is starting to become frustrated as his cooking is still getting burned as Cornelius and Pompadour haven't gotten a new stove as promised. Afterwards two painters Hal and Mal arrive to paint the palace, Cornelius and Pompadour start to have an argument about who hired them, and soon they have huge feud which causes a paint mess. Celeste calls up and Isabelle explains that Cornelius and Pompadour are agreeing again. While cleaning up the mess, Cornelius and Pompadour vow never to speak to each other again and during this, Truffles quits and leaves the palace. The children watch the entire fight and are in shock afterwards but also wonder what they'll do for dinner.
That night when Babar and Celeste come home, they find the children (except for Isabelle) have stomach aches from eating too much ice cream. Isabelle tells Babar about what happened today. Celeste gets the children upstairs to bed and gets them something to calm their stomachs. Babar tries to end the feud between Cornelius and Pompadour reminding them that despite their differences they have a great friendship, but it doesn't work. Isabelle tells Babar she is worried about Pompadour and Cornelius, Babar assures her that they couldn't ask for better friends than each other, they both said so themselves. Later that night, Isabelle tries to help them out by telling them what she heard Babar say. While they both go to apologize to each other, they both end up talking to their empty rooms, thinking the other is giving them the silent treatment, they both leave in a huff. They both go down to the kitchen, Cornelius makes himself some tea and Pompadour gets some bread, they both find each other in the kitchen they both leave angrily.
The kettle starts to get overheated, Cornelius runs back downstairs to get it saying he didn't forget it, he was preoccupied, seeing the smoke coming from the door he is afraid that Pompadour is still inside and runs to help him. Meanwhile Pompadour comes back downstairs to get the kettle himself saying that Cornelius would say he was preoccupied but he is just plain forgetful, when he hears Cornelius in the kitchen, he rushes inside and they both help each other. Babar and the family run downstairs to help and see them coming out of the kitchen, Babar tells everyone to get out of the room. Suddenly Truffles comes in with Hal and Mal who are firefighters and put the fire out. Cornelius and Pompadour apologize to each other, and Isabelle says that they saved each other and they both agree. Truffles helps puts the fire out and says he could smell his kitchen within 17 kilometers and asks if he can have a new stove, and Babar says he'll get one first thing in the morning. Hal and Mal come out of the kitchen saying that they quit their previous job due to the amount of disagreements. While Babar thanks them, Cornelius tells Pompadour that Hal and Mal have made a great career change, and Pompadour says that he couldn't agree more.
