Mango Madness is the 13th episode of Season 5 and the 65th episode of the series overall. It is also considered by many as the series finale.
Summary[]
When Flora tells many lies around the palace, she gets in trouble and Babar tells her she needs to tell the truth. When she does tell the truth, she ends up getting into more trouble as she says many things that aren't her place to say so. In the meantime, Rataxes is asking Babar to run this years Fruit Festival, which leaves everyone surprised.
Plot[]
One morning Flora tries to say Good Morning to everyone, but they either miss her or they don't talk to her. Flora makes up so many lies to everyone which she laughs at so Babar tries talking to her about the importance of telling the truth, though she doesn't quite understand exactly what he means and thinks he hasn't explained properly. Because after their talk, she wanders around the palace tattling causing more trouble. She says it's the truth but all she's just doing is insulting them which gets them mad at her. In the meantime, Lord Rataxes has told Babar and the staff that he wants to be in charge of the annual Fruit Festival this year. Pompadour and Cornelius are worried about this, mainly because they don't trust his judgement, but Babar says that they should hear him out and have him come here. Soon Lord Rataxes and Basil drive over to the palace dressed up in fruit costumes where Lord Rataxes wants Basil telling the truth about his costume. He says that if Basil calls it silly, he'll be really mad, although Flora is called in and she calls Lord Rataxes silly he immediately gets mad cancelling everything calling the whole thing off like the silly costumes, the fruit festival, the party, and the mangoes. Flora begins to cry feeling horrible for making it even worse where she runs off and hides in the back seat of the car sleeping. Flora tells Babar that she was hoping that they could go for a drive together. They go to Rhinoland so they can straighten things out. However, Flora tries to apologize to Lord Rataxes for hurting his feelings but then he hurts her feelings and tries cheering her up with turning his glove into a balloon. Then she gives him a big hug for insulting him, and he admits that his feelings are hurt and it's not nice calling someone silly, except she never meant silly in a mean way, she means it in a nice way saying that she loves his fruit costume. So Lord Rataxes reconsiders the fruit festival after all and everyone parties. Although Rataxes accidentally lets the fact that people did not like Cornelius' festivals this offends Cornelius and Babar goes to talk to him. Flora tells Rataxes he shouldn't have said that, he's confused as he was just being honest, Flora tells him that it is complicated and decides to discuss it over a smoothie.

- This is the last and final episode of the 1989 series, this is also Lord Rataxes and Basil's final appearances.
- This is the second episode Flora tries telling the truth, she has trouble telling the truth with the same problem in A Pair of Queens.
- Victor is absent from this episode except being mentioned a few times. Even Lady Rataxes was absent in the episode for unknown reasons.
- We see in this episode that Pompadour has a serious appetite for mangos.
- This marks the second time Flora has the role of the middle child the first time this happened was in Special Delivery.
